Meg and Scott weren’t quite sure what they wanted to do on their elopement day but they wanted it to “scream Southern California.” They were open to any suggestions I had and I recommended kayaking and they immediately said YES! It was truly the most intimate and adventurous San Diego elopement and I’m so grateful I got to be a part of their special day!
What I love so much about elopements is that they allow you to truly focus on the love you two share. You don’t have to stress about wedding timelines or spending big bucks on a venue. You can really make your elopement day your own and do whatever the two of you want to do and that is exactly what Meg and Scott did!
Meg and Scott’s intimate ceremony was at a little hidden beach in La Jolla Cove. It was an early morning elopement so there were barely any people which made it that much more personal. I actually was the one who officiated their short and sweet ceremony so that was really special. After the ceremony I let Megan and Scott enjoy some time alone to hang out on the beach and watch the sea lions play in the waves. Before heading off to kayak, I made sure to capture some beautiful photos of the two of them with the ocean and cliffs in the background.
Megan and Scott knew they didn’t want a traditional elopement but wanted to make it an adventurous day that they would truly never forget. Since we were in SoCal, kayaking was a no brainer. After their ceremony we jumped into our cars and headed to La Jolla Kayak where we picked up our rentals and headed out. What I loved so much about Megan was that although she had never kayaked before she was so excited and willing to try it. All you really need is a winning attitude and willingness to get wet lol.
It could not have been a more beautiful and clear day out in the ocean which made the experience that much more amazing. We spent 2 hours kayaking around the cove and checking out the sea caves and sheer cliff faces. With the water being crystal clear, we were lucky enough to see tons of Garibaldi, kelp forests, sea lions, and even a Leopard Shark.
I also captured some epic photos of Megan and Scott in their kayaks which truly showed how genuinely happy they were to be experiencing this together. I mean what more could you ask for? They got married and then spent their time time celebrating in kayaks on one of the most beautiful days in San Diego.
Okay so you’re married!! NOW WHAT? This is one of the most special days of your life and the best part is you can do whatever heck you want to celebrate! Is there an activity that you two love doing together? A favorite restaurant? Want to take pictures in the place you first met?
