Madi and Trent had the most beautiful forest engagement photoshoot in Humboldt Redwood State Park! Madi and Trent came all the way from Texas for a trip together and decided to have their engagement photos done while they were staying up in Trinidad.
Since they aren’t from the area, they asked me for recommendations on locations and I immediately recommend Humboldt Redwood State Park. When they chose this as their location I was SO freaking excited! Humboldt Redwood State Park is my favorite redwood park, even though it’s not one of the big four parks, it’s home to the longest and largest continuous grove of old growth redwood trees in the world.
What I loved so much about this forest engagement photoshoot was that we didn’t just take the pictures and leave. These two wanted to make the day an experience they would remember so we hiked all throughout the Gould Grove Nature Trail. I love this so much because we had so many different options for photos and I just tagged along behind them as they enjoyed their day together. It was so authentic and real which in my opinion created the most magical engagement photos!
After hiking the Gould Grove Trail, we had extra time so we decided to finish off the day with a hike through the Fleishmann Grove Trail. Due to all the weather recently, the park was almost completely empty. We had both trails entirely to ourselves and got to enjoy the quiet during our hikes
The Humboldt Redwoods state park is located in Northern California and spans about 53,000 acres. This park is extremely special and is by far my favorite Redwoods State Park. As a lover of nature, this park is so incredible to me! About 17,000 acres of the park is old-growth redwood forest which is the largest expanse of ancient redwoods left on the planet. So if you are in the Northern California area and are considering the Humboldt Redwoods for your engagement session or elopement, I couldn’t recommend it enough.
One of the best ways to see the Humboldt Redwoods is to do the Lost Coast Scenic Drive. This 65 mile drive offers the most beautiful views of Alpine Trees, coastline views, and of course the Redwoods. This is a great option to see a ton of the park if you will only be in the area for a short period of time!
This is by far one of the most scenic drives in the Humboldt Redwoods and has been referred to as the most beautiful forest drive in the world. In some areas, you even drive through the massive redwood trees. And with several trailheads found along the road, there are several locations perfect for your forest engagement photos.
If you are planning a trip in the summer months, then visiting one of the several swimming holes is a must. I also think this doing an engagement session at one of these swimming holes would be such a fun time if you are wanting to do something a little different!
