Whoever says that California doesn’t have seasons has clearly never visited Big Bear in the fall. To be honest, before I moved out to California, I thought the exact same thing. When I booked this Big Bear maternity photoshoot, I had no idea what to expect in terms of the scenery. This is my first fall on the West Coast and I never imagined that southern California would have fall colors, much less the most vivid fall colors this florida girl had ever seen. This fall outdoor maternity photoshoot with Cassidy and Chris was absolutely beautiful on the Pine Knot Trail in Big Bear with some of the most colorful trees I have ever seen!
What I loved so much about working with Chris and Cassidy was that you could genuinely tell how in love they were with each other. These two started off as friends 3 years ago, then became best friends, and then they both finally admitted that they had fallen in love with each other. Big Bear hold a very special place in their hearts because this was their first vacation together and where they realized that they were in love with each other!
It only seemed fitting them to celebrate their new daughter in the place where they fell in love. Cassidy & Chris’ relationship is built on a foundation of a strong friendship. They’re the couple that went from being best friends to falling in love. I love when my clients decide to take photos at a meaningful location because it is always such a full circe moment. From being best friends to having a baby 3 years later and getting to capture this special time at the place they fell for each other was truly magical!
When it came to picking a location for their outdoor maternity photoshoot, Cassidy and Chris immediately knew they wanted to do it in Big Bear. We decided that the Pine Knot Trail was the perfect place because it was the exact location. When Cassidy & Chris had visited Big Bear three years ago, this was the hike they went on. And it could not have been a more beautiful location! The trees were filled with the most vibrant colored yellow leaves. When the wind blew through the trees, bright yellow leaves rained down around us and it felt incredibly magical.
Although it was a bit chilly, Cassidy and Chris couldn’t have cared one bit. They were so easy to work with. It felt like the three of us had known each other forever and we had the best time laughing and joking our way through the session. Cassidy even told me that she felt the most beautiful during her pregnancy. This isn’t what I typically hear from expectant mothers but Cassidy was absolutely glowing and the excitement and love both Cassidy and Chris have for their daughter just radiated off of them.
“You were absolutely amazing and gave us an experience we’ll never forget! Thank you so much Gabriella! Thank you for being an amazing human! We felt so natural and it shows in the photos, we’re absolutely obsessed with them and can’t wait to see the rest. “
